Assisted suicide

MY views of this topic is kind of controversial. But whats the fun of a debate that is lame? THe con side s has very relevant issues. Like how it will become government mandated suicide is legalized. ALso the risk of people abusing this right will be quite apparent by doctors that malpractice and greedy family members. Also killing patients goes against the hypocratic oath that doctors take when sworen into their position. This would call for a revamp of the doctor system.THere is also problems with living wills and where money goes and such. Not to mention religious consequences. There is like a list of haters of euthanaisa and assisted suicide. many people don't like it.

Assisted Suicide

So after talking to a couple teachers I think I am going to do the Assisted suicide paper because it is a concrete topic with a blurry line between black and white, and under certain contexts it is correct while under others, it is wrong. I could bring in religious debates from several religions. Like the Roman catholic church views this subject as evil and homocide. They think that human life should always be preserved and that the individual would meet God on his or her own time.

The media's false image of beauty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5_AFk9aOAA

This video is about the media's false image of beauty, and one of the men behind the madness. His job is to make people who are already extremely beautiful, even more beautiful using computers to air brush photos. Our nation's girls and boys are growing up with these false definitions of beauty. A beauty that cannot be HUMANLY obtained. Thus we are telling these girls and boys to act like like these models that are electronically altered. This is causing many children to have psycological disorders such as anorexia, bulimia nervosa, and depression. These are mostly caused by the inability to look like these models. How can we look up to models that arent even real?

assisted suicide vs. euthanaisia

So a possible topic for my research paper could be assisted suicide and it's effects, causes, what poeple think of it. Apparently it is different from euthanaisa and that could be a possible angle i could work from. Assisted Suicide is not legal in the USA, but is legal in a select few places in Europe. Assisted suicide is when someone else helps take the life of another with the permission on the other. This is usually done by a doctor when the patient is in times of suffering. Although I think that suicide is never the option, when someone is so close to death and suffering either mentally or physically from the present circumstances, I think that it becomes a logical option to consider. There was a case in the United states where the wife was in a coma and she was not getting out of it, and the husband wanted to pull the plug while the family wanted to keep her living on a machine. The husband ultimately requested that she be pulled off the machine, and she died. The family set a law suit against him for killing her. But i htink the man was right in the sense that he had full rights by marriage and having the one you love living off a machine is no way to live a life. His choice was hard, but understood. The family claimed this was assisted suicide/ homocide. But that is wrong because she didn't speicify that she wanted to die. ANyways That is a good topic to choose. :)

monday matters more clarence page

Hey sorry I'm a tad late for my last monday matters of the 1st semester, but here goes. One of Clarence Page's latest stories is how Obama is going to be re-elected. The story itself reads similar to the structure of a rhetorical analysis or argument on a very sad president. His tone is hopeful though which is characteristic of his more liberal approach on life (which shows up in about every piece of writing I have read). His points are clearly labeled and what Obama did right and wrong. He also has a short concession that confesses that his "disapproval rating are worse than his approval rating" (CLarence PAge). The author then makes himself even more credible by pointing out that Obama needs to step up. This is definitely something everyone in the USA wants.

So my article, again by Clarence Page, is about what he thinks about Karl Rove standing up against Donald Trump for hosting the GOP presidencial candidate election. He explains Karls point first to lessen the assumptions becuause we have all heard of DOnald Trump, but not him, so if he was to say his POV second, it would lessen the effect. He also says that Trump hosting the elections makes a mockery out of "the most important decision to americans". He also makes fun of Trump by showing that Trump him self was " basically... a loser". He also criticizes americans for not caring about politics, so to care, we must throw in show biz. He gives analogies with  famous judges on hit reality shows saying satirical things making fun of government.

So new person on the opinions because it turns out that my other person doesn't write weekly so here goes!!! SO my new person, Clarence Page, is writing about the upcoming election and how he believes that the tea party is destroying itself by electing Newt Gingrich as their presidential candidate because electing him is hypocritical in the sense that people like him are the ones that the tea party want out of office. He makes the point that Gingrich has done what the tea party rages against ( giving money to businesses etc.). And since Gingrich did support the bill then the tea partiers should be blaming him for financial crisis, not electing him. He also seems to be insulting to all the candidates by calling this upcoming election an american idol audition
